About Us: The Founder

Meet Steve Odabashian, the founder of Main Line Test Prep and Tutoring. He has a B.A.in economics from the University of Virginia, and a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.

Steve's colorful career has allowed him to hone his math, verbal and writing skills.  This combined with his years of teaching experience make him a 3-tool test prep tutor. Steve has split his professional career between being a lawyer and a trader. He has also served as a legal and economic editor for the Bank of Japan and has done some writing and editing for Forbes.

Most importantly, and enjoyably, Steve has been tutoring test prep since 1997. He got his start tutoring GMAT, SAT and TOEFL in Japan.  He has helped hundreds of students improve by hundreds of points.  He has been tutoring math since the age of 11!  (Steve finished his 8th grade math book early in the 6th grade, and his school put him to work tutoring the 3rd graders!)

Steve teaches and tutors students from around the world. He has tutored and taught in locations as exotic as Japan, France and Hong Kong.  He has also tutored all over the USA.

Steve enjoys playing the piano and rooting for Philadelphia sports teams in his spare time.  His piano playing lands him in the local press and on TV quite often. Steve also made a spirited run for Philadelphia City Council in 2011, and was one of only 2 candidates (in a 9-candidate race) to pick up primary election endorsements from Philadelphia's 3 largest newspapers.

Steve lives in Berwyn, PA with his wife Maggie and sons, Arthur and Shant.
